The original was recorded in the 20's, the fiddles may have been tuned down a whole step and sound in F, but the tune we play easily in standard tuning in the key of G.
It's not unusual for early recordings and even modern ones to have that element of confusion..these fiddles are all in standard tuning or in cross tunings of AEAE.'..and add that 'this recording is from the Volo Bogtrotters cassette tape, done in the 80's, recorded in key of F. We don't know if they tuned down a step or not..listen carefully, you decide. Besides, it'll make your ears flap.
